State Secretary Dr Raščan to attend the Foreign Affairs Council (Development)

On 19 November, State Secretary Dr Stanislav Raščan will be attending a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council composed of development ministers (FAC DEV). The main items on the agenda will include relations between the USA and the EU and water.

The development ministers will discuss the relations between the USA and the European Union in the sphere of development cooperation, which have recently been given fresh impetus. A guest at the meeting will be Samantha Power, Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Another topic discussed at the meeting will be water in EU external action with a focus on Central Asia. The EU’s comprehensive approach to water enhances the efficiency of its external action, thus strengthening the EU’s standing as a major development partner and a key global actor. Under Any Other Business, the European Commission will outline the situation in Ethiopia and Sudan and review the state of play regarding the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
