The Informal Meeting of Ministers on integration policies, organised by the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union, will be held on 13 April, at 8:30 am (Lisbon time).
Focusing on the issues of integration on the EU agenda, the aim is to provide an opportunity for open discussion between political leaders and other players on the challenges the Member States are facing in the integration of migrants and refugees.
"The impact of the pandemic on the living conditions of migrants” will be the topic of discussion in the informal dialogue marking the start of the meeting, and the Member States will be invited to share their ideas and positions in terms of policies for integration into the labour market during the European recovery.
The event will continue with a Policy Forum, which will focus on the role of social partners and local authorities in the area of integration, with participation from the different delegations attending the meeting.
The session will be opened by the Portuguese Minister of State for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Mariana Vieira da Silva, followed by speeches from the Vice-President of the European Commission, Margaritis Schinas, and the European Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson.
