Extraordinary Group III meeting

In line with the priorities of the Finland’s Programme for its Presidency of the Council of the European Union Sustainable Europe - Sustainable Future’, Group III will hold its next extraordinary meeting on the topic ‘Boosting EU competitiveness - 3 pillars for sustainable growth’. The meeting will take place in Helsinki, at the premises of the Auditorium (Annex Building of the Parliament).

Our Group chose to concentrate on 3 pillars enabling sustainable growth and thus boosting EU competitiveness:

  • Bioeconomy and climate neutral Europe
  • Digitalization
  • Infrastructure in transport sector

The pillars are strongly interlinked and all ensure a sustainable growth for Europe. However, putting them into place involves a series of challenges to be faced by all stakeholders: from farmers, forest-owners, industries, infrastructure operators, public and private investors, research and technology institutes, until down the end of the chain, consumers.

The main purpose of this event is to examine and debate challenges, opportunities, consequences, best practices and ways of increasing EU competitiveness through 3 panels dedicated to these pillars.

Around 130 participants are expected to take part in the conference, including EESC Members from all EU Member States, business representatives, experts from main background civil society organizations of our Group III Finnish Members, officials and representatives of the Finnish government and Parliament.

Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks! Join us on 16 September!
