When it comes to reframing and rethinking national institutions and political conventions, the EU is the ideal object of research. Secondly, the workshop as a first initiative to bring together historians in the Netherlands and Flanders dealing with European integration and related topics in their Ph.D. theses and other research endeavours. Providing a platform for historical EU studies next to the much larger community of political scientists in the field.

The Panels

The workshop involves the participation of three panels, each specified in a topic closely related to the subject of the workshop, notably the European Parliament and its national counterparts, political language and culture, and European governance and democracy. Each panel contains out of three speakers specialised in the topics within the particular panel.
