KIVI NIRIA Students Delft organizes the CEO-series at the TU Delft to motivate students and young engineers for a successful career.
Dr Karl-Ulrich Köhler joined Tata Steel Europe as Chief Operating Officer on 1 February 2010. He became CEO and Managing Director on 1 October 2010.
He studied metallurgy at Clausthal University of Technology, where he gained his doctorate in 1988. In 2005 he was awarded an honorary professorship in flat steel product technology by Freiberg University.
He has worked during his 30-year steel industry career at the companies that today comprise ThyssenKrupp Steel, where he was most recently Chairman of the Executive Board and a Member of the Board of the parent company, ThyssenKrupp AG. Until October 2009 he was President of Eurofer, the European steelmaking federation, in which role he succeeded former Tata Steel Europe CEO Philippe Varin. He has brought to Tata Steel a wealth of knowledge and experience of steelmaking in Europe, as well as of the European steel supply chain and customer base.
Karl-Ulrich Köhler will talk about his work as CEO of Tata Steel. He will talk about his experiences, career development and how he became a successful CEO.
