LIFE Nordic Platform Meeting 2017, Örebro

Berlaymontgebouw
datum 19 april 2017 - 20 april 2017
plaats Örebro, Zweden
organisatie Directoraat-generaal Milieu (ENV)

The annual LIFE Nordic Platform Meeting, hosted this year by RECLAIM (LIFE11 NAT/SE/000848), will be held in Örebro county, south-central Sweden, from 19-20 April 2017.

All Nordic LIFE Nature projects are welcome to the platform meeting, which provides a forum to network, share experiences, and discuss solutions to shared problems. The event will include a thematic focus on the multi-purpose management of grasslands, with presentations on grassland management, restoration and ecosystem services. For instance, LIFE GRASSSERVICE (LIFE12 BIO/LV/001130) and LIFE Viva Grass (LIFE13 ENV/LT/000189) will talk about their grassland restoration actions in Latvia and Lithuania, respectively.

The Head of the European Commission LIFE Unit, Jean-Claude Merciol, will address the platform meeting during the opening session. On the first afternoon, three concurrent workshops will seek practical solutions to challenges in the areas of dissemination, transferability and replicability; policy issues and implementation; and ecosystem services and socio-economic studies.

On the second day, the RECLAIM project will lead an excursion to their field site at Tysslingen.

This event will also be the final conference of the RECLAIM project, which since September 2012 has been restoring wetlands in Örebro county, particularly to reverse the degradation of the Tysslingen Lake and Venakarret Fen Natura 2000 network sites, through long-term management strategies.

A provisional agenda for the platform meeting can be found here .
