Duty Station Copenhagen Duration Minimum six months Closing Date 10 February 2012 Duties and Responsibilities The intern will work under the direct, overall supervision of the UNOPS Director of Corporate Performance and Management, reporting on a daily basis to the Strategic Budgeting Advisor and Results Management Advisor. The Corporate Performance and Management Group (CPMG) is situated in UNOPS Headquarters in Copenhagen and works closely with the organization's senior -most management. Its purpose is to facilitate corporate alignment, coordination and cross-functional integration of UNOPS policy, tools and people. CPMG is organized in a flat structure, allowing flexible leverage of the team's complementary skills and expertise for mutual support. In 2012 -13 CPMG will have a leading role in preparing the midterm review of UNOPS strategic plan 2010 13, UNOPS strategic plan 2014 17, UNOPS budget estimates 2014 15 and the associated systems for performance management to drive implementation of strategy across the organization. As part of a team, the successful candidate will provide analytical support to the Strategic Budgeting Advisor and Results Management Advisor for the midterm review of the strategic plan and 2014-15 budget estimates, including quantitative and qualitative analysis of UNOPS existing projects and partner base, client demand and performance to inform decision making and improvement. The work will include interaction with UNOPS offices in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe and the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean and North America.
S/he will provide analytical support to the Results Management Advisor in enhancing the framework and tools for managing UNOPS balanced scorecard. After initial induction, it is envisioned that the candidate will take the lead on developing and operationalising new and enhanced performance indicators in cooperation with relevant entities across the organization. Other responsibilities and tasks will be assigned in line with the organization's requirements and th e candidate's interests and capabilities. The candidate will have access to the same training opportunities as other personnel, including access to a large offering of online training (for example Prince2 Project Management and a number of languages) and possible PRINCE2 Project Management certification. Required Selection Criteria Advanced university degree or significant course work (i.e. masters degree or equivalent) such as Masters Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Engineering, Development Studies, or other relevant disciplines. A first-level university degree with a relevant combination of academic credentials and qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Strong analytical skills, in particular with regards to quantitative analysis. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required and experience in presenting analysis and findings by using Powerpoint would be an asset. Knowledge of finance and accounting would be an asset. Excellent organizational skills; self-driven; team worker; with attention to detail; and determination to meet deadlines.
