The European Patent Office in Munich is seeking a Lawyer *
in Dir. 5.2.2 (International Legal Affairs, PCT)
Duration of the contract: 3 years
(Non-renewable contract: an extension over the period of 36 months shall not be possible)

The EPO's Directorate 5.2.2 (International and Legal Affairs, PCT) is looking for a lawyer (Munich-based).
Its core tasks include the further development of European and international patent law. In addition, high-priority projects for the next three years are the creation of a unitary patent for Europe, continued efforts to harmonise substantive patent law worldwide, and further optimisation of procedures under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT).
The directorate is therefore looking for a lawyer who for the next three years will help it with both its project-related and day-to-day work.
Main duties

-Drafting legal position papers on EPC and PCT issues
-
-Preparing draft decisions and legal advice regarding PCT procedures
-
-Drafting proposals and documents for the further development and practical implementation of European patent law
-
-Representing the directorate in EPO bodies.
Candidate profile
-
-good knowledge of European and international patent law, including the PCT
-
-basic knowledge of EU law
-
-practical experience of writing legal position papers
-
-initiative and good teamwork skills.
Minimum qualifications
Diploma of completed studies at university level or - in exceptional cases - equivalent professional experience. Excellent knowledge of one EPO official language**, and ability to understand the other two.
The successful candidate will be selected on the basis of qualifications, supplemented as appropriate by interviews and/or tests.
It is intended to hold the interviews in calendar week 12/13 of 2012.
