Function
The International Policy Analysis Division provides economic analyses and prepares ECB/Eurosystem policy positions in four areas: (i) global economic policy issues; (ii) global financial and macro-prudential issues; (iii) policy issues related to the international monetary system; and (iv) issues related to emerging market economies, including their relevance to the global economy and the euro area, with a focus on systemically important countries in Asia and Latin America.
The successful candidate will work with the Global Economy group. He/she will work on global economic issues, with a particular focus on economic modelling of economic and financial relationships, global imbalances, trade and financial market issues. He/she will deal with horizontal economic and financial issues in the global economy and emerging market economies.
Qualifications and experience
The successful candidate must have the following knowledge and competencies:

-Advanced university degree in economics or a related discipline; a PhD would be an asset. A research record in areas related to the Division’s fields of interest is essential and should demonstrate the candidate’s ability to conduct applied economic analysis.

-Sound background and relevant experience in the fields of international finance and macroeconomics, and in particular with a strong expertise in economic modelling and applied econometrics.

-Excellent command of English with proven drafting ability. A working knowledge of at least one other official language of the EU is also required.

Duration of contract / Closing date
Fixed-term contract (non-convertible) until 14 October 2014.
