1. Inleiding
i2010 is het intitiatief voor beleidlijnen inzake de informatiemaatschappij en de media van de Commissie. Het zorgt voor coherentie in de beleidslijnen op het gebied van de informatiemaatschappij en de media van de Commissie en beoogt het versterken van de belangrijke bijdrage van de informatie- en communicatietechnologieën (ICT) tot de prestatie van onze economieën en de hernieuwde Lissabon-strategie. i2010 opereert in een snel groeiende omgeving en vereist dan ook regelmatig actualisering en precieze afstemming. Dit verslag vormt de tweede actualisering en effent de weg voor een uitgebreidere evaluatie halfweg in 2008.
De totaalbalans voor 2006 is positief . De hoofdindicatoren evolueren in de juiste richting en ICT blijft een belangrijke factor als motor van groei en innovatie. Het scepticisme dat vier of vijf jaar geleden de ICT-investeringen in de weg stond, heeft plaats gemaakt voor meer vertrouwen in onze mogelijkheden om ICT-toepassingen in ons economisch en sociaal voordeel te ontwikkelen en in te voeren. Wat de beleidsacties betreft liggen de verschillende bij de lancering van i2010 in juni 2005 aangekondigde initiatieven op EU-niveau op schema. Op lidstaatniveau is in alle nationale hervormingsprogramma's van 2006 meer de nadruk gelegd op het mainstreamen van de ICT-beleidslijnen.
