INLEIDING
Met dit Groenboek nodigt de Europese Commissie alle belangstellenden uit hun mening kenbaar te maken over de in het kader van de herziening van het consumentenacquis aan de orde gestelde vraagstukken door uiterlijk 15/05/2007 hun antwoorden (onder vermelding van: `Response to the Green Paper on the Review of Consumer Acquis - Reactie op het Groenboek 'Herziening van het consumentenacquis'') te sturen naar het volgende adres:

De antwoorden en opmerkingen worden gepubliceerd op de website van het directoraat-generaal Gezondheid en consumentenbescherming van de Europese Commissie tenzij de respondenten daar uitdrukkelijk bezwaar tegen maken. De Commissie zal de bijdragen bestuderen en daarvan in de eerste helft van 2007 een samenvatting publiceren. Op grond van de uitkomst van de raadpleging zal de Commissie beslissen of er behoefte bestaat aan een wetgevingsinitiatief. Elk wetgevingsvoorstel zal vergezeld gaan van een effectbeoordeling.
Achtergrond
Doel en stand van de herziening
De Commissie heeft de herziening van het consumentenacquis in 2004 op stapel gezet om de bestaande regelgeving te vereenvoudigen en te completeren en aldus te verbeteren. Het herzieningsproces wordt beschreven in de mededeling van 2004: Europees verbintenissenrecht en de herziening van het acquis: verdere maatregelen.[2].
