Nederland staat in beginsel positief tegenover de plannen van de Commissie. De voorstellen van de Commissie sluiten aan bij het beleid van de Nederlandse overheid. Het leidend principe hierbij is «inclusief beleid», waarbij Nederland ICT als een speerpunt wil gebruiken. Daarom is Nederland voorstander om eAccessibility als onderdeel van i2010 te beschouwen.
NL kan niet akkoord gaan met het streven van de Commissie naar een gelijk speelveld door toegankelijkheidseisen op EU niveau te certificeren, omdat dit leidt tot omvangrijke bureaucratie, extra kosten en administratieve lasten.
Nederland ziet liever een door de Commissie ter beschikking gestelde e-control tool waarmee betrokkenen zelf kunnen kijken of hun site conform de afspraken werkt (een soort zelftest en tevens tool voor opdrachtgeverschap). Hiermee kan zonder extra kosten of inspanning worden geconstateerd of aan de eisen wordt voldaan. Door dit instrument (is kosteneffectiever, transparanter en reproduceerbaarder) kan beter dan certificering gebruik gemaakt worden van de mogelijkheden die internet biedt tot digitale toetsing van de conformiteit aan technische eisen. Nederland zou een inhoudelijke bijdrage kunnen leveren aan de ontwikkeling van een dergelijke tool.
