The Terminology/Language Technology (TLT) Unit is responsible for designing, managing, maintaining and expanding the ECB’s database of central banking-related terminology in all the official EU languages.
To this end, the TLT unit coordinates terminology-related work with the ECB’s Translators and Lawyer-Linguists. Qualifications and experience
-
-Advanced university degree (or professional training in the field of terminology, language technology or translation, or a proven ability to perform the tasks required by the position).
-
-Professional experience: at least two years’ professional experience (preferably in the field of terminology, language technology or translation), including practical experience of translation-oriented terminology work preferably with terminology management and translation memory software packages such as SDL MultiTerm and SDL TRADOS.
Skills needed:
-
-IT skills: Excellent knowledge of the suite of SDL translation tools and of MS Office, in particular Word, Excel and Access.
-
-Language skills: Perfect command of an official EU language, excellent English and a very good knowledge of at least one other official EU language.

Behaviour Competencies
The successful candidate will be expected to work on several terminology and language technology-related assignments and to provide assistance to end-users of the tools. It is important that the successful candidate is a self-motivated, flexible and supportive team player, has good communication skills, and is able to take initiative and co-ordinate his or her activities with the other team members who are in charge of a number of other projects.
As the successful candidate will work in a multicultural team providing support to translators and lawyer-linguists from all EU countries, cultural awareness and the ability to show respect for individual and cultural differences is considered to be vital.
