DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent will serve in the International Cooperation Section in the Jurisdiction, Complementarity and Cooperation Division of the Office of the Prosecutor (OTP) and will provide advice and perform tasks required by the Division, including:

In relation to specific situations and cases, assist in designing and executing strategies to secure cooperation from states and organisations for OTP investigations and prosecutions;

Assist in providing legal and policy advice on cooperation issues arising in relation to the situations under investigation;

Contribute to the development of communication plans and outreach activities and to interaction with victims, including representing the OTP in meetings with local communities, civil society and other relevant groups;

Participate in field missions in fulfilment of the tasks outlined above;

Perform any other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • i. 
    University degree in law, or another relevant field, from a recognized university;
  • ii. 
    At least four years of relevant professional experience (2 years with Master’s degree);
  • iii. 
    Professional experience in international relations and negotiations; analyst training desirable;
  • iv. 
    Professional experience in international or domestic criminal law and experience in working in judicial cooperation is strongly desired;
  • v. 
    Excellent knowledge of the substantive and procedural provisions of the Rome Statute and the ICC Rules of Procedure and Evidence;
  • vi. 
    Excellent diplomatic, communication and negotiation skills;
  • vii. 
    Ability to work effectively and constructively with colleagues from different professional, national and cultural backgrounds;
  • viii. 
    Ability to work effectively under strict deadlines and with substantial travel obligations.
  • ix. 
    Ability to work in a non-discriminatory manner, with respect for diversity;
  • x. 
    Professional and personal integrity.

KNOWLEDGE OF LANGUAGES

Fluency in English and French is essential. Knowledge of another official language of the Court would be considered an additional asset.
