The Office of the Prosecutor is seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Investigator (P-3).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • a) 
    Performs tasks as instructed by the Head of Investigative Planning and Operations, the Investigation Coordinator or the designated Investigation Team Leader;
  • b) 
    Participates in field activities: interviews’ suspects, witnesses and victims;
  • c) 
    Registers information and evidence;
  • d) 
    Conducts disclosure review and other evidence related duties and activities;
  • e) 
    Participates in the preparation of the investigation plan prior to the start of any investigation;
  • f) 
    Gives, pursuant to the instructions of the Team Leader, operational lead to the other members of the Investigation team;
  • g) 
    Provides expert advice on how to use existing international and other networks to further investigations of the Office of the Prosecutor;
  • h) 
    Advises the Investigation Team Leader on investigation procedures and techniques to be used;
  • i) 
    Performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

(i) Relevant university degree; a diploma in criminal investigation from a national police or law enforcement academy or a combination of relevant training courses in related fields and extensive investigative experience may be acceptable in lieu of the academic requirements.

(ii) Relevant experience/training in either one of the following categories:

  • A) 
    training in criminal law and procedure; investigation training; at least seven years experience (five years with an advanced university degree) with criminal/financial investigations or intelligence handling, with a special focus on complex, large-scale cases;

OR

  • B) 
    at least seven years of experience (five years with an advanced university degree) working in or in close cooperation with NGO’s/IGO’s, with a special focus on complex, large-scale cases; experience in working together with police and justice organizations;

In addition

(i) significant experience conducting investigative interviews of suspects, victims, and witnesses;

(ii) expert knowledge of investigation techniques and procedures;

(iii) excellent ability to organize complex and voluminous sets of records and facts;

(iv) excellent ability to execute investigative tasks;

(v) experience conducting or participating in financial or other complex investigations;

(vi) excellent ability to communicate effectively with police, NGOs, journalists or other relevant networks;

(vii) ability to work under stressful conditions;

(viii) familiarity with analysis techniques

(ix) ability to work in a non-discriminatory manner, with respect for diversity;

(x) professional and personal integrity.

KNOWLEDGE OF LANGUAGES

Fluency in either of the working languages of the Court, English or French, is essential. Working knowledge of the other is desirable. Knowledge of another official language of the Court would be considered an asset. (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish)
