On 13 August 2008, the Commission presented its proposal for a Council Regulation

amending Regulation (EC) No. 2182/2004 concerning medals and tokens similar to euro

coins.

  • 2. 
    The proposed Regulation is based on Article 123(4), according to which a consultation of the European Parliament is not obligatory. However, since the European Parliament was

consulted on Regulation (EC) No. 2182/2004, and for the sake of consistency, its opinion

should also be sought on this proposal.

The sole purpose of this note is to decide on the consultation of another institution/body and not on the substance.

  • 3. 
    The Permanent Representatives Committee is therefore requested to decide, in accordance 1

with Article 19(7)(h) of the Council's Rules of Procedure , to ask the European Parliament to deliver its opinion on the proposal as soon as possible.
