Prime Minister Dileita Mohamed Dileita and his cabinet resign. On May 11 Dileita is asked to form a new cabinet and on May 12 he announces its composition with Abdoulkader Mohamed Kamil as defense minister, Ilyas Moussa Dawaleh as finance minister, and Hassan Darar Ouffaneh as interior minister; Mahamoud Ali Youssouf remains foreign minister.

In presidential elections, incumbent Ismail Omar Guelleh wins 80.6% of the vote and Mohamed Warsama Ragueh 19.4%. Turnout is 69.7%.
